Italian director, screenwriter, and producer based in Colombia. A Fulbright scholar with a master's degree in film directing from The City College of New York, where she worked as an assistant to Chantal Akerman. Her talent was recognized with the Jury Prize for Best Female Filmmaker from the Directors Guild of America for her short film Alex.
Her international career spans the creation of documentaries and fiction films across four continents, with works selected at festivals such as the Uppsala Film Festival, exhibitions at Rome’s MAXXI Museum, and a permanent presence at the Olympic Museum of Qatar.
Recently, she expanded her trajectory as a screenwriter for the series Ay Hombre (2022) while developing her first fiction feature film, Paula. This project was awarded Best Debut Feature in Development at the Villa de Leyva International Film Festival (2021) and selected for prestigious international film labs, including Torino Film Lab NEXT 2022 and LabGuion 2023, solidifying her as a promising voice in the Latin American film landscape.
Author of the books Cuentos de lo raro (2024), El encanto podrido de Bogotá (2021), El sexo de las salamandras (2015), Cuervos en la ventana (2013), Una ciudad llamada Bucaranada (2010), and Me llamo José Antonio Galán (2010).
In 2023, he was selected for the Can Serrat Writing Residency in El Bruc, Catalonia, Spain. In 2020, he received the National Short Story Book Award from UIS and the Bogotá City Chronicle Award. In 2017, he was selected by the Gabo Foundation as the winner of the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Journalism Fellowship, and in 2015, he won the Santander Governor’s Novel Award.
In 2012, he was awarded the Cundinamarca Governor’s Short Story Prize, and in 2008, the RCN-MEN National Short Story Prize.
He holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Universidad de Los Andes and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Literature from UIS. Currently, he is a professor in the Master’s Program in Creative Writing at Universidad Central.
Professional in Literary Studies and holds a Master’s degree in Literature from Universidad Javeriana. He develops workshops and academic programs on literature, creative writing, and communication skills. With experience in the editorial and advertising industries, he has worked as a content creator for special publications across various print media. His studies and research have enabled him to build a continuously evolving theoretical and experiential discourse, allowing him to offer new tools for understanding and expressing contemporary analog and digital narratives. Currently, he is affiliated with the School of Visual and Fine Arts at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, teaching the courses Writing for Artists and Narrative Structures of the Image. His published works include Héroes (Editorial La Serpiente Emplumada, 2007), Pájaro Violento (Trilce Editores, 2011), Mujer Policía y otros relatos (Casa Vacía Editorial, 2017), and Plataforma Bogotá: encuentros cercanos con las artes digitales (Fundación Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, 2017). He also developed Lucrecia Daphne Anarkista Visual (LDAV), an interactive digital story created as his master’s thesis project
A filmmaker from the Sydney Film School, he has written and directed fiction and documentary projects in Australia and Colombia.
His notable works include the short film Amanecer, shot in Australia with the support of actress and producer Claudia Karvan, winner of three international awards and featured in over 40 festivals, as well as Tierra Caliente, nominated for the National Culture Award from Universidad de Antioquia, winner of three awards, and selected at more than 30 festivals. In 2023, he premiered Bajo la arena, a short film adaptation of an award-winning National Literature Prize story by Carlos Franco.
He is currently in post-production on Tierra Madre, a feature-length documentary spanning 10 years between Australia and Colombia. He is also the creator, screenwriter, and director of the series Ay Hombre (2022).
